At the heart of  Lanne-en-Barétous, a small town located in the French administrative region of Pyrénées Atlantiques, at the border between Béarn and the Basque Country, the Château de Porthos and its charming chambre d'hôtes (bed and breakfast rooms) will welcome you at any time of the year.

Built in the late 1500's and the early 1600's, the Château de Porthos, completely restored in 2005, is an outstanding sample of the Bearn's architecture, since it may be observed the harmony of its proportions and the sobriety of its style.

A wooden staircase of outstanding proportions will invite you to visit the four rooms with evocative names: Aramits, Milady, Athos and Porthos.

You will be able to have breakfast either in the dining room or in the extraordinary terrace with a panoramic view of the Valley of Barétous until the neighbouring city of Aramits, place of birth of ARAMITS, comrade in arms of Porthos, character of the Three Musketeers.

At nightfall, on reservation, the table laid out by Michèle will make you discover the Béarn's gastronomy charms thanks to a tasting of high quality local products.

But if you want to relax this is the right place. You could try the outdoor Spa overlooking the 1-hectare woodlot park. Then, you may have some fun playing on a billiard table installed in the castle old kitchens which were located in the basement.

Finally, Lanne-en-Barétous, the very heart of the region administrative Pyrénées Atlantiques, will invite you to dream surrounded by the countryside, the mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. You will be able to go for a walk, ski, swim and discover an extraordinary culture: Béarn and the Basque Country culture.
